MOTHERBOARD COMPONENTS
A. Motherboard diagram The way the motherboard works follows picture 1. Components inside the motherboard are connected to each other. Computer motherboards, especially PC computer motherboards, are composed of various components needed to build a computer system.

B. Components and Functions
The components that are generally in a motherboard are:
Processor Socket.
This socket is where the processor is installed. The socket type determines what processor can be installed in the socket. So a certain socket just can be paired with certain processor.
Memory slot.
This slot is used to install the computer's main memory. The type of memory slot also varies, depending on the system it uses.
Northbridge.
Is a designation for the main component that regulates data traffic between the processor and the memory system and the main channel of the motherboard.
Southbridge
Is a supporting component of the northbridge that connects the northbridge with other components or peripherals.

PCI Express x16 slot Is a special slot that can be fitted with the latest generation VGA card. PCI Express x1 slot Is a slot for installing peripherals (cards or cards) other than VGA cards. AGP slot Is a special slot for installing a VGA card, a generation before the PCI Express slot. PCI slot Is a common slot that is commonly used to install cards or cards at speeds below the AGP and PCI Express slots. BIOS (Basic Input-Ouput System). Is a small program that is inserted into the ROM or Flash IC which is used to store the configuration of a motherboard. CMOS battery A special battery to power the BIOS. SATA port Is the interface for the latest generation of storage media. SATA ports can be used to connect a Hard Disk with a computer system. IDE port Is a storage media interface before SATA generation. Floppy Disk Port Used to connect removable media or storage media that can be removed, namely Diskette or Floppy Disk. Power Port Port to provide power to computer systems. Back Panel Is a collection of ports that are usually placed behind a casing or PC computer container.

The port or plug that is usually behind the PC computer case is: 16. PS / 2 Mouse port Connect a mouse to a computer. 17. PS / 2 Keyboard port Used to install the keyboard. 18. Parallel Port To install low speed peripherals with eight bit data width. Usually used to install printers before the USB generation. 19. Serial Port Used to install low speed peripherals with serial data transfer mode. But now rarely used. 20. SPDIF port Used to connect computers with audio peripherals such as home theater. 21. Firewire Port Connect high-speed external equipment such as video capture or video streaming. 22. RJ45 port Used to connect computers with LAN networks. 23. USB port Used to interface with new generation external peripherals or devices that replace parallel ports and serial ports. 24. Audio Port Used to connect computers with audio systems such as speakers, microphones, line-ins and line-outs.
